For those interested in finding something to do on New Year's Eve, the Rantoul Knights of Columbus is having a New Year's Eve Party at the club and as always is open to the public. They are having a steak dinner with serving to begin at 5:30 pm. Craig Bertram will be providing the entertainment for the evening. What other New Year's Eve events are taking place?

Eater Jr. High Offers Study Help for Students

I was reading in the paper today about the new after school study help that is being offered by Eater Jr. High. According to the story, once school is over for the day the students file into the cafeteria to receive help with their studies. The program is headed up by teacher Lois Hewerdine and includes up to 5 teachers and U of I students. I was wondering how well these are attended? Are they optional or mandatory to attend? I congratulate these teachers for their dedication. Any thoughts?

New Format

Welcome to the new Rantoul Journal format, I hope you'll enjoy it. I started this webpage back in March of 2010 and as we approach our one year anniversary I thought it was important to reevaluate our site and see if we could possibly do it better. A couple of the challenges that I have had with keeping this site going, is one finding the time to update the site on a regular basis and two getting more people involved in the reporting. Hopefully our new format will help us to do a better job of both. When I started the page, I didn't want it to be just me reporting news from around Rantoul. We have a weekly paper and they do a good job of that. I wanted our page to be a place where we could discuss things that were happening, in a positive manner, in Rantoul and maybe along the way come up with some ideas or suggestions on how we might be able to do it better. So with this new format, it's going to be more of a forum for ideas on things that are happening in Rantoul, things or ideas on how we might do things differently and what you'd like to see Rantoul become. One thing I do want to keep the same is a positive dialogue, so I will reserve the right to delete any posts or comments that I feel are not contributing to that goal. I will try to start a post each day with either something that is going on or going to be going on in and around the Rantoul area or with just an open forum, where you can discuss whatever is on your mind. In addition I will keep a page that will have any news or upcoming events that you'd like me to post on the site. Thanks for your support and kind words over the past 10 months and I hope you'll continue to support the site. As always, if you have any suggestions or comments for me you can email me at [email protected] Thanks!!
